Roaring Fork Valley ET (Evapotranspiration) Reports
Crop Year 2017
Archive: 2015, 2016
April - May - June - July - August - September - October
How to read these reports: Based on the daily data collected at the weather station statistical models are used to calculate the evapotranspiration of the three crops listed (additional crop reports are available at CSU's CoAgMet page) Evapotranspiration is a measure of the water used by the crop during that 24 hour period. This information is very useful to irrigators as the previous-ET is the amount of water that needs to replaced in the soil with irrigation. For example, if you haven't irrigated in a week you can check the ET totals for that week and then determine how long you need to irrigate in order to replace the water that was used during that period. Over-irrigation isn't just an environmental problem. It affects profitability as well: pumping costs, water delivery charges, lost fertilizer due to runoff/deep percolation, labor, and maintenance costs all rise with over-irrigation. If you are interested in learning about irrigation application rates or would like to develop an irrigation water management plan, please call our office!
